Ever since April 2017, which is when the English water retail market first opened its doors, big and small businesses alike have been able to switch water suppliers, choosing the one that serves their needs most effectively and which has experience of working alongside companies in specific sectors and industries.
Naturally, there are clear benefits to be reaped from partnering with a water retailer that knows how and where your business uses water – but it can be very difficult indeed to find the right supplier to join forces with.
New retailers enter the market all the time and it can be difficult to navigate these choppy constantly changing waters to find the best deals available. How do you even go about finding out who your current supplier is? How do you get the switching process underway?
To help you answer these questions and any others you might have, we’ve compiled some of the more frequently asked questions about switching business water supplier. If you’d like to find out more, get in touch with the Hydroswitch team today.
How do I find my current water supplier?
As a business water customer, you’re billed by a water retailer rather than a regional water company (known as wholesalers).
To find out who your current supplier is, take a look at your most recent bill as it should have the name on there. Alternatively, you can get in touch with any water retailer on the market and they’ll be able to tell you which one is registered to your site.
Why do I have different regional suppliers?
If you own multiple business sites across various different locations, you may find that you have multiple water retailers as a result. This is where bill consolidation really comes into its own as a value-added service, making billing a lot more streamlined and easier for you to track.
What do I do if I’m being billed as a domestic customer?
A common issue that many businesses come across is that they’re being billed as a domestic customer, rather than a company. This is usually because the non-domestic water network database is out of date. If you suspect this is the case, get in touch with your preferred supplier and they’ll transfer you onto the right network.
